Atlanta has been completely rebuilt after the civil War into a very modern city with fancy shopping malls and commercial centers. There is very little of the old city that remains to be seen. But there still are some old fashioned neighborhoods where you can get a flavor of what Atlanta used to be like the Fairlie-Poplar, which was the city's commercial centre 100 years ago. The buildings here were built between the 1880s and World War I.
Atlanta enjoys mild weather for most parts of the year, though July and August are very humid. Spring and fall are the best times to visit. The places you must visit while in Atlanta are Buckhead, CNN Center, Grant Park Zoo Atlanta, Sweet Auburn; where there's the African American Panoramic Experience and APEX. Around Atlanta there are some interesting locations you might fancy like, Little Five Points where there's the Inman Park, intersection of Moreland, Euclid Aves and Museum of the Jimmy Carter Library featuring exhibits on Carter's four years (1977-1981) as President, Marietta, Savannah and Stone Mountain Confederate Memorial with its lakes and picnic areas, a restored plantation and a sky lift to the top of the 825ft peak.
