Chicago Sports

Chicagoans live and die with their professional sports teams. No matter what time of the year you visit the "Windy City" you will be able to take in a sporting event. Two of the most historic baseball teams in the country call Chicago home. The American League White Sox play on the south side of town, while the nation's "loveable losers", the Chicago Cubs of the National League, play in the north side's Wrigley Field. The Chicago Bears are the oldest team in the National Football League. The team's founder and first coach, George Halas, originally formed the league which now has over 30 teams and broadcasts its championship game, the Superbowl, around the world. Also known around the world is Michael Jordan, who built Chicago's NBA franchise, the Bulls, into a basketball dynasty. The Bulls play in the United Center, as do the Black Hawks, Chicago's ice hockey team. A more recent addition to the sports scene is Chicago's second "football" team. The Chicago Fire gained immediate notoriety by winning the 1998 Major League Soccer championship in its very first season.
