Shedd Aquarium Chicago

Among the cluster of museums situated around Chicago's Grant Park is the John G. Shedd Aquarium. A Chicago institution for decades, this is the largest indoor aquarium in the world. The massive glass wall in the Oceanarium gives the illusion that the dolphin pool extends directly into Lake Michigan. The sailboats easing by and the larger commercial ships in the distance provide a unique backdrop for activities that take place there. In the main part of the aquarium you will see over 8000 species of marine life from around the world. A special feature is the enormous reef tank where divers enter daily to hand feed fish while they "converse" with museum guests on the outside of the tank. Small children may tire from simply moving from tank to tank, but will undoubtedly enjoy the dolphin show, the sea lions, and a few other age appropriate exhibits. Admission to the Oceanarium is separate from general admission to the aquarium.
