Hong Kong Hotels

Rarely will you experience such a wonderful series of contrasts as you will in Hong Kong. This is a city that presents the best of both tradition and technology. There is a good chance that even your Hong Kong hotel is a site of some historic or cultural importance, such as the Peninsula Hotel in Kowloon. Each of the city's 18 districts offer something for its visitors, so no matter which hotel in Hong Kong you choose, you are sure to be conveniently located near some of the world's most magical, and mysterious, spots.

Every visitor to Hong Kong needs to spend some time learning about the city's rich history. Understanding Hong Kong's past will open the door to understanding a great deal of the history of China, of Colonialism and the entire Pacific Rim. The Hong Kong Museum of History and the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware are excellent places to begin your discovery of the past. Of course, much of the history and mystique of Hong Kong is wrapped around the traditional religions of the region. Visit the Wong Tai Sin Temple for a taste of Buddhism. Have your fortune told and reflect in the beautiful buildings and grounds.

While history is everywhere in Hong Kong, this is a city that is definitely looking toward the future. Ironically, the best way to see this modern city may be via some old world transportation. Take a trip on the 100-year-old tram to the top of Victoria Peak or a ride on the picturesque Star Ferry. Then get even more intimately acquainted by walking through Temple Street Market, with hawkers selling everything imaginable. After the sun goes down head for the Lan Kwai Fong for a night you will never forget.

While the image of Hong Kong as a bustling, noisy and crowded city may not be inaccurate, it is certainly not complete. 38% of all land in Hong Kong has been designated as parkland or undeveloped greenery. So if the crowds get to be too much, take a secluded stroll. But if our hunch is right, the vibrant pulse of the city will be calling you back soon.
