Malaysia Hotels

With two of the world's tallest buildings and a huge technology center for the computer industry, Malaysia has passionately embraced technology and the future. But that's just one face of the country. Many who visit never get very far from their Malaysia hotel in Kuala Lumpur, but hotels in Malaysia are to be found not only in the gleaming capital city, but in historic ports and colonial era villages. The Island of Penang is the oldest British settlement in Malaysia and one of the country's premier resort areas. Penang is best known for its beaches but it is the local culture of Georgetown that that offers the most intriguing aspects of the island. The older neighborhoods feel like time capsules. There is more Chinese influence here than in either Singapore or Hong Kong. Chinese temples, ceremonies and puppet shows are prevalent throughout the city.

The Cameroon Highlands provide a completely different set of vistas and activities. The cooler temperatures allow for recreation that would be far more difficult in the heat and humidity found at lower altitudes. Golf and tennis are available at several clubs; while others prefer to hike and take in the natural beauty of the lush vegetation and dramatic waterfalls.

Most cities in Asia offer a contrast between tradition and technology, but Kuala Lumpur seems almost determined to see how far they can stretch the limits. Twin towers scratch the heavens as some of the tallest buildings in the world. Their design is as "space-age" as the imagination will allow, yet in their shadow hide dozens of single story buildings whose history reaches back more than a hundred years. With the boldness of a boomtown, KL (as it is known) seems to delight in the rebellion against its traditional moors, without ever truly denying them.

Yet with all of that, Malaysia seems completely comfortable with itself. High-tech capital, remote jungles, colonial history, ecotourism and host to the rich and famous. It is completely unpretentious, and invites you to come and take advantage of whatever world you prefer - without explanations or apologies.
