Museum of Contemporary Art Miami

One of the newer additions to Miami's cultural scene is the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA). Opened in 1996, MoCA has amassed a permanent collection of nearly 400 works, but like most contemporary art museums, the focus here is on temporary exhibitions. In its brief history, MoCA has already gained a reputation for innovative and provocative exhibitions. The Museum emphasizes promising new talent, both from south Florida and around the world in 8 to 10 exhibitions each year.

Since the design was unveiled, much of the attention has been on the museum itself. The 23,000 square foot facility has a contemporary design complete with moveable walls, jagged surfaces and high ceilings. The exterior blends well with the tropical Miami landscape, and the spacious entryway promises good things to those who pass by.
