Central Park New York City

Central Park, the oldest landscaped public park in the US, is 843 acres of woods, formal gardens, open meadows and seven distinct bodies of water. Decorated with fountains, statues and even a castle, this is a park which must be seen to be believed. Here you can walk, bike, skate, paddle or ride. Horses, bikes and boats are all available for hire. If you prefer, sit back and let someone else do the work as you enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride or a brief trip in a gondola. Still looking for more to do? Visit the zoos. Yes, there are two of them - one just for children. Speaking of children, don't miss the carousel or the whimsical Alice in Wonderland statue. The park is also home to the formal Conservatory Garden where you can see plantings from around the country and the world. You could easily spend an entire day here and finish with an excellent meal at the Boathouse, a restaurant that overlooks the lake.
