Greenwich Village New York

New York City is a collection of vibrant and distinct neighborhoods. Tribeca, SoHo, and Park Avenue all have their own histories and flavors, but perhaps no New York neighborhood has the color or the history that Greenwich Village has. In the 50's and 60's Greenwich Village gained international fame as the home of beatniks, then hippies. Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendix all had addresses here. Today the Village has some of the most expensive real estate in New York City - and some of the NYC's best restaurants and clubs. While the "establishment" has put its roots down in Greenwich Village it still retains much of its quirkiness. Washington Park provides an outdoor venue for street entertainers of every conceivable stripe. Coffee shops and bistros are everywhere, some still evoking the "coffeehouse" feel of the 60s. You can even buy vinyl LP's and Nehru jackets in a few specialty stores.
