San Francisco Hotels

When you think of San Francisco, you may conjure up ideas of hippies, student protests, un-escapable prisons, a huge bridge, and maybe Nash Bridges? Well maybe not...but this Northern California town is one of the most recognizable and loved cities in North America. And many San Francisco hotels have great views of the landmarks that make this city famous.

Be sure to bring a jacket when touring around the San Francisco area as the temperature can get quite cool when fog comes in during the afternoon. Another option is try to escape the fog and head out in a charter a boat to do some fishing or even whale watching. Fisherman's Wharf, possibly San Francisco's most popular destination, combines fantastic views, great hotels and delectable seafood. Also be sure to check out Alcatraz, former home to some of Americas hardest criminals, but lucky for you, there is an abundance of hotels in San Francisco are much better than staying at the old prison.

During your stay in the city check out Nob Hill. There you'll find some of the finest hotels in San Francisco, built where many gold rush millionaires lost their mansions in the earthquake of 1906. Other places you might enjoy visiting while staying in the San Francisco area are Oakland, San Jose, or check out the birth of the '60's protest movement at Berkeley. Try going up to Haight Ashbury, another favourite hippie hang out. When travelling around the city grab a good pair of walking shoes and leave your car at your San Francisco hotel so you don't have to worry about it rolling down the incredibly steep streets.

Golden Gate Park a great place to go strolling, especially on a Sunday when many of the streets are closed, and it's the place to check out museums in the eastern section of the park. There you can see the M.H. de Young Memorial Museum, the Asian Art Museum and the California Academy of Sciences.
